Hair extensions offer a lot of versatility as well as protecting your natural hair. Unfortunately, many women choose not to take care of their natural hair while wearing hair extensions. Doing this is a sure way of causing damage, and breakage to their natural hair. Caring for your natural hair is equally important as caring for your hair extensions.
We recommend caring for your natural hair before & after installation. If your hair has recently been bleached, or dyed it's a good idea to give your hair some time to breath before installation due to the possibility that your natural hair can become weak which will lead to breakage.

Make sure that your natural hair is shampooed, conditioned, and free of any dead skin buildup. If not, there is a possibility that you will experience a dry, flaky, & itchy scalp.
There are options available to care for your natural hair properly while having your hair covered and obstructed from wearing hair extensions.
Keep reading to learn a few tips to help keep your natural hair just as beautiful as your hair extensions.
1. Cleanser with Extended Nozzle
There are many hair/scalp cleansers that have an extended nozzle to help get to the roots of your hair. Are you looking to save a buck? Sure you are, we all love saving money. You can purchase a bottle with an extended nozzle from Amazon at a very reasonable price and simply add your own products in the bottle.
2. Shampooing
At least twice a week shampoo and condition your scalp and hair extensions. Be sure to use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner to prevent drying of the hair. We recommend using a moisturizing conditioner. When you apply the shampoo to your scalp with your nozzle bottle, use your finger tips to massage it all over your scalp. While you're cleansing your scalp you can go ahead and cleanse your extensions as well. Apply a generous amount to the palm of your hands and work your hands from the top of your head to the very bottom. Do Not scrunch, scrub, or comb your hair extensions, as this will cause tangling, and breakage.
Make sure that you spend more time rinsing your scalp so that there is no leftover residue. For better results, we recommend applying conditioner to your scalp and hair extensions, place a shower cap or plastic cap on your head and let the conditioner sit for at least 30 mins (the longer the better). Then rinse your hair with lukewarm water. Remember to spend a little more time rinsing your scalp.
If you're dealing with a dry, itchy, and/or flaky scalp, we recommend using a medicated shampoo, such as Selsam Blue. Leave the shampoo on for at least 15 mins while massaging the shampoo on the scalp with your finger tips, then rinse. After shampooing with the medicated shampoo, wash & condition your hair with a sulfate-free shampoo/conditioner. This process will cleanse the scalp and your natural hair will be ready for installation.
3. Oiling The Scalp
Applying oil to your scalp can prevent your scalp from becoming flaky. Put your oil inside a bottle with an extended nozzle to apply the oil to the scalp effortlessly. We prefer using light-weight oils, such as, jojoba or argan oil.
